ことわざ = proverb
日本語での会話ももちろんですが、英会話でことわざを使う場面にはそうそうでくわしません。
ですが、例えばメールのやり取りの最後の一文にことわざで締めくくる、というのは”あり”です。またネイティブを前に、たたどたどしい英語のプレゼンの最後にことわざで締めくくる、これも”あり”です。
外国人でもたまにいますよね。なぜか結構難しいことわざを覚えていて「雨降って地固まる」みたいな人。そんな時、決して悪い気持ちはしないと思います。
